Abstract

The conflict in the Abyei region between Sudan and South Sudan has been a longstanding issue fueled by historical, ethnic, and resource-related factors. These studies examine the role of the United Nations in resolving the Abyei conflict, focusing on the peacekeeping missions UNISFA, UNMIS, and UNMISS. This Research use qualitative research analysis method. This method involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data collected to improve understanding of the phenomenon being studied. This study uses the concept of conflict resolution which explains the role of the United Nations in dealing with the conflict between Sudan and South Sudan, especially in the Abyei region. The United Nations' efforts in facilitating dialogue, peace negotiations, and peacekeeping operations are crucial in mitigating the conflict and promoting sustainable peace in the region. Collaborative efforts between the governments of Sudan and South Sudan, supported by international organizations like the UN, are essential in achieving lasting peace and stability in Abyei.
