As the first female president of Tanzania, her administration marks a critical juncture in the nation’s history, facing both significant challenges and opportunities for transformative change. This research examines her strategic efforts in economic recovery, infrastructure development, and the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, assessing how these policies have influenced public health outcomes, economic growth, and governance. Additionally, the study explores her initiatives to advance gender equality, particularly addressing the persistent disparities in both urban and rural areas. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data on economic performance, public health metrics, and gender representation with qualitative insights gathered from focus group discussions involving policymakers, analysts, and experts. The findings reveal notable progress under President Hassan’s leadership in areas such as economic recovery, gender equality, and infrastructure development, particularly through projects like the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Station. However, challenges such as financial constraints and project delays remain. The study’s novelty lies in its comprehensive analysis of President Hassan’s multifaceted policy impacts, contributing new knowledge to the discourse on governance, sustainable development, and gender equality. Key implications include recommendations for enhanced infrastructure investment, improved pandemic preparedness, and targeted support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Chacha Magasi Copyright (c) 2024 Chacha Magasi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://e-journal.unas.ac.id/jsps/article/view/239 Sat, 30 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0700 THE LABOR MARKET OF TRADITIONAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS IN THE SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE https://e-journal.unas.ac.id/jsps/article/view/255
This article presents analytical data on labor market opportunities, especially for traditional medical practitioners and a reflection of Government Regulation Number 103 of 2014. The need to maintain physical health is the main thing for the community. Many people try to maintain their health so they don't get sick easily. There are many ways to maintain endurance, including consuming healthy food and drinks from natural ingredients, one example is herbal medicine from natural ingredients. In addition, people have a tendency to panic too much when their body health is disturbed, for example fever, flu and cough, the symptoms experienced may resemble those of being infected with covid-19, but not all of these symptoms always diagnose that they have been infected with covid-19. In the covid-19 pandemic situation, for example, there are still many people who check their health at traditional medical practitioners. The results of this study reveal that the traditional labor market for medical practitioners is still in great demand by the community, even though there has been government regulation on traditional health services.
Ichmi Yani Arinda Rohmah Copyright (c) 2024 Ichmi Yani Arinda Rohmah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://e-journal.unas.ac.id/jsps/article/view/255 Sat, 30 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0700 THE EUROPEAN UNION'S EURO 1 TO EURO 6 PROGRAMME https://e-journal.unas.ac.id/jsps/article/view/256
The study proceeds to evaluate the Euro 1-to-Euro 6 Programme introduced by the European Union as a regulatory framework for reducing carbon emissions from motorized vehicles with special emphasis on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles as part of its agenda for carbon neutrality by 2050. These progressively evolving regulations, now more than two decades old, have put stricter and stricter limits on emissions, thus forcing the manufacturers to design cleaner technologies. The study assesses the implications induced on the automotive sector by the policy and the challenges it faced in trying to comply with those ever-renewing regulations. This study follows a mixed-methods approach of qualitative analysis of policy and quantitative analysis of secondary data to tie emission standards to technological development in the automotive industry. The findings show that the Euro 1-to-Euro 6 Programme has been a significant accelerator in the transition toward low-emission vehicles, albeit challenged by rising costs of production and compliance complications. Furthermore, the upcoming creation of the Euro 7 standard will impose further limits on emissions and introduce regulation on the non-ICE species, namely, electric and hybrid cars, recognizing non-exhaust emissions such as PM from brake and tire wear. These policies may reinforce the position of the EU as a world leader in emission reduction activity while also opening opportunities for manufacturers to develop sustainable transport solutions. From this, it follows that the Euro 1-to-Euro-7 transition will be a vital phase in the transition into greener mobility and further cementing EU commitment to long-term environmental sustainability.
Fawwas Ranu Kautsar Copyright (c) 2024 Fawwas Ranu Kautsar https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://e-journal.unas.ac.id/jsps/article/view/256 Sat, 30 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0700 UN EFFORTS IN RESOLVING THE ABYEI CONFLICT BETWEEN SUDAN AND SOUTH SUDAN https://e-journal.unas.ac.id/jsps/article/view/257
The conflict in the Abyei region between Sudan and South Sudan has been a longstanding issue fueled by historical, ethnic, and resource-related factors.
